OPPORTUNITY
A retail store was facing security challenges that were not being adequately addressed by a traditional burglar alarm system. The store’s approach to security was resulting in police dispatches to false alarms and subsequent charges, given the “off-hours” presence of staff in the store.
PROBLEMS AND CONCERNS
The standard burglar alarm panel that wasn’t sufficient for their needs. They had a monitoring company that was costing thousands of dollars annually in overage charges. Despite ongoing attempts to reduce false alarms and improve levels of security, their efforts had failed. In one instance where a “true” alarm was received, police arrived seven minutes after the intruder had left.
solution
Viewpoint proposed a video verification system to solve these issues. The store’s burglar alarm panel was set up to send trouble signals to Viewpoint’s command center and cameras were added at alarm points so that all signals could be visually verified. A connection was also established to their existing CCTV system, and some enhancements were made. Complemented by years of experience and expertise, this new approach allowed Viewpoint to visually verify the causes of false alarms and eliminate police dispatches.
results
Viewpoint’s solution not only eliminated all false alarm responses, it also resulted in better overall security for the store.
